Either Newsday reads my site on a regular basis or it is just a coincidence that they decided to feature Coney Island’s “Shoot the Freak” yesterday. Coincidence or not, the Newsday article offers an interesting look into the origins of Shoot the Freak. As I had suspected, the freak is not really such a freak after all, he just plays one on the boardwalk. I was a bit disappointed to learn that this Coney Island attraction does not have any historical roots going back to Coney Island’s humble beginnings. Oh well, the question still remains: “Y’all ready to shoot the freak?”
